Porites corals are the redwoods of the reef. Patient, slow growth of just a few millimetres per year layers into an intricate, dense and powerful living structure which emerges over thousands of years. Porites shelter, protect and nurture an abundance of other species - giant clams, green and gold chains of seaweed, glittering tropical fish, tiny christmas-tree worms and iridescent mantis shrimps.
This ring was hand carved to form a raw, scarred safe haven, a sterling silver reef home to a riot of sapphires, citrine, smokey quartz, iolite, topaz & vintage pearls.
